[WHAT] This Saturday some great Chicago DJ’s are spinning at Beauty Bar for the Fresh Prince Edition party. Hey Champ and Kid Color are some of Chicago’s DJ staples and always bring out cool crowds. What’s also dope is the fact that Vic Lloyd and Clayton Hauck are spinning that night also. These two Chicago icons are so immersed in their own Chicago scenes (fashion and photography respectively) that by now they’ve expanded their wingspan onto several different parts of the industry. They’re music selection is valued and their DJ skills are respected. Chicago is really good at backing up small businesses and cool movements, and these two guys are great examples of a strong following and true Chicago grind.

“Born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan by Dominican parents, MALUCA is that increasingly rare bird- a downtown girl who brings together the classic cool, glamour, grit and passion of New York City in an instant! After meeting Diplo at a karaoke bar, the two starting working together resulting in her debut single “El Tigeraso” (coming via Mad Decent), an infectious track that draws on her Dominican electro merengue roots. Maluca had her first public perfomance at the SXSW FADER fort and tore the roof off with a short set that showcased her wide range of influences – from artists such as ESG, Savannah Band, Wu-Tang, Gil Scott Heron, Nina Simone to styles like Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, House, Disco, and Freestyle. Keep your eyes open and platanos peeled for the self proclaimed “1/2 dominican 1/2 Pain in the ass.”

Some Bronx, some Sweeden and some Chicago all in one spot! I’m really hyped for this diverse line-up. Check this out for a taste of some real progressive hip hop and electro sounds.
